IFMAD has a long and successful tradition of inviting expert speakers with subjects which provide new insights in treatment of various psychiatric disorders. The meeting always takes place in a collegiate setting which allows for an open interaction between speakers and other experts present with the registrants both in the meeting room and in the intervals.
This year the focus on treatment resistant depression includes the advances in personalised medicine, the increasing data on rapid response with esketamine, the most important clinical predictors of TRD and the exciting data on new genetic pathways which alter response and resistance in depression. There are overviews of the therapeutic implications of affective symptoms in schizophrenia and the impact of new findings on the treatment of primary and secondary negative symptoms of schizophrenia. An important component of the meeting will be updates on the management of bipolar disorder with reviews of lithium and long-acting injectable antipsychotics and how to manage bipolar disorder with comorbid ADHD.
There are sessions on the treatment of anxiety disorders with a separate focus on managing treatment resistant anxiety disorders and the difficult problem of the treatment of OCD Spectrum Disorder and what not to do in treating PTSD. There will be updates on the advances in treating suicidality and the advances in treating sleep disorders. We will be allowed to digest the new data on positive and negative brain gut interactions which hint at new ways of approaching anxiety and depression. |
